BRAND NEW

Sadie and I checked out Brand New last night at the Kool Haus. Very awesome band, I have to say that its one of the few times where I've spent the majority of a show at the back, and enjoyed it more. Was up front at first but wasn't feeling the crowd, and felt like puking, so I moved back and got some water. And it was nice just getting to chill and actually pay attention to the music. Sadie and I got seperated, but it turns out she ended up at the back as well and enjoyed that distance too. What was nice about their set was that I guess they are a big enough (and creative) enough band to have the resources to have a slide show go along with their music, but small enough that it wasn't some mega affair with 10,000 people. The slide show was SO incredibly fitting- it really brought out the darker side in the band.

Four things though:
1. Kool Haus sucks as a venue, compared to the Opera House you don't have a clear view of the stage no matter where you are. Talking to Iris after I got home last night she agreed, Kool Haus sucks.

2. Tools from Windsor: some thickheaded boys were standing in front of me, they were totally pompus, trying to provoke the secuity / look cool

"Hey you! Yeah you Mr. Secuirty Guard in the Yellow? What music do you like? What music do you like? Country?!?"

Shoot me now.

3. Priscilla girls

4. Crime in Stereo deserved a better crowd, to be honest with you the crowd at Brand New was pretty shitty.

On the way back we had your typical TTC experience got on the Subway headed to Kennedy, and there was some lady dressed in flamboyant red sprawled across the subway benched. She awoke startled to this guy offereing her a lime lolly pop, she declined. He offered us; accepted, ate. Good times. As lollypop guys said "Welcome to Toronto." Then waiting for the bus at Kennedy, a crazy guy was mumbling/yelling "Bitch", and motioning some pretty creative hand actions.

Pretty stoked about going to Lindsay tomorrow, its always nice to get a change of scenery. Oh! And have been spending my class breaks today editing the Shut Eyes/ Emergency interview... now rendering!

Anyway, some poker night photos:
